Publication Ethics

1. Introduction

Data Science Insights is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractice. This statement is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and applies to all parties involved in the publication process — authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher.

2. Duties of Authors

- Authors must ensure that their manuscript is an original work and free from plagiarism, falsification, or data manipulation.
- Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal.
- Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.
- All sources of financial support for the research should be disclosed.
- Authors are obliged to participate in the peer-review process and respond to reviewer comments professionally and promptly.
- If an error is discovered after publication, the author must notify the editor immediately to issue a correction or retraction.

3. Duties of Editors

- Editors are responsible for deciding which articles are to be published based on academic merit and relevance to the journal’s scope.
- Editors must ensure a fair, unbiased, and timely review process.
- Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and related information.
- Editors must prevent conflicts of interest and must not use unpublished information for personal advantage.
- The editor should take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred.

4. Duties of Reviewers

- Reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts.
- Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and not use the information obtained through peer review for personal gain.
- Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear and constructive feedback.
- Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
- Reviewers should immediately notify the editor of any potential conflicts of interest.

5. Duties of the Publisher

- The publisher ensures that good practices of editorial independence are upheld at all times.
- The publisher must support editors in handling ethical complaints and must take appropriate measures when ethical concerns arise.
- The publisher is committed to the permanent availability and preservation of scholarly content and will ensure accessibility through digital archiving.

6. Ethical Oversight and Misconduct Handling

- The journal follows COPE’s flowcharts for handling cases of research or publication misconduct.
- In cases of suspected misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication), the editorial board will conduct an investigation.
- When ethical misconduct is confirmed, the journal will publish a retraction, correction, or expression of concern, as appropriate.

7. Plagiarism Policy

- All manuscripts submitted to Data Science Insights will be screened for plagiarism using similarity detection software (such as Turnitin or iThenticate).
- Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% (excluding references) may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected.

8. Open Access and License Policy

- Data Science Insights provides immediate open access to its content, supporting a greater global exchange of knowledge.
- All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0): https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/

9. Conflict of Interest

- Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the work.
- Any potential conflict of interest must be declared in the manuscript or to the editorial board before publication.
